ABOUT US
Inspired by the potential of education technology and alarmed by the lack of awareness among their fellow peers, two freshmen students at UC Berkeley started an initiative in 2018 to increase the exposure of education innovation among young talents.
Two years later, the initiative, called EPIC, has grown into a 20-member community, has put together a 7-day immersive trip to the EdTech ecosystem in China, a Silicon Valley Edtech Summit that attracted hundreds of students and participants in Bay Area, and a pioneering learning engineering fellowship to attract outstanding undergraduate CS talents.
Since the very first day, EPIC's mission has always been to inspire the next generation of leaders to bring about long-needed innovation in education. It is our vision to create a "technology for social impact" movement among young talents so that one day, they can build a world where everyone has an access to high-quality education. And our journey is just getting started...

We are a group of education technology enthusiasts rooted in Berkeley, California. Our team have diverse academic backgrounds but share one single mission - to reimagine and rebuild education via creativity and innovation.
Co-Founders
Richard Tang
Co-Founder
Richard is a senior at UC Berkeley pursuing a degree in Economics and Education. Distressed by the wide gap in educational attainment between coastal cities and rural areas in China, he started his pursuit of education innovation when he was a freshman. Throughout the four years, he has gained much research and professional experiences to gain inspirations and first-hand skills.
Along with his personal exploration, he strives to build awareness of educational innovation among his peers at Cal, so he co-founded EPIC@Berkeley with Sibei to inspire more talents around him to join this cause. He aspires one day that he can help create a more engaging, effective, and accessible education experience for all.
Sibei is a recent graduate from UC Berkeley with a degree in applied mathematics. She has an unparalleled passion for education and has worked as an education product manager intern at TAL Education and an investment intern at a leading edtech VC in China.
She cofounded EPIC@Berkeley along with Richard to engage students with the latest edtech trend and career opportunities. She aspires to create an equal and transparent education ecosystem by utilizing cutting-edge technology and attracting more talent to the education industry.
